First New $5 Banknote to Be Spent At President Lincoln's Cottage
The first five dollar bill, featuring a new design, is to
be spent on March 13 in the gift shop of the President Lincoln's Cottage,
located at the Soldiers' Home in
The message regarding the first $5 bill and the way it would be spent was made this week by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP).
It is worth mentioning that the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) for the first time digitally revealed the redesigned $5 bill. The event took place in September of 2007 and BEP promised that the banknote would be "safer, smarter and more secure".
The new bank note will continue to illustrate the image of President Lincoln, which is the main reason why the first redesigned five dollar bill will enter into circulation via the Lincoln Cottage gift shop.
On the same day, when the bill will be spent in the gift shop, the Federal Reserve banks will start distributing the redesigned $5 bank note to banks. The latter will issue the bill to businesses and consumers.
